The dinner menus on several
sternwheelers have listed Ice Cream. Where did they obtain the ice? This photo
shows the crew gathering blocks of ice for that purpose. The ice is the result
of breakup on the river. On the bow sits a skiff named the "Pelican" which
was used for ferrying passengers.
