Our house

This years ice carvings from
Ice Alaska.
We experienced some cold weather damage
this year. The all weather metal doors that are made for Alaska's
unforgiving weather did not do the job. They froze, expanded and bent. So
much for Lowe's and Home Depot. It's back to real wood doors
46 below zero. Dang if it ain't cold. Even the Weather Channel cannot believe people
will live here. Check out one of our local
interviews with
Tim Mowry who is with the local newspaper. The coldest we have experienced
has been 73 below zero which resulted in the whole area shutting down. That
event did not get as much attention.
This video is typical of
what we encounter each year.

The Yukon
Quest started from downtown Fairbanks this year. The temperatures
were in the -40 range with very dense ice fog. This was too cold for us to stand
out there and freeze. So we did the civilized thing and watched it
on TV, Channel 11. It was broadcast live this year and everything
worked. Here is a short video of the
start from KTVF, Fairbanks.
