Our house in December

More tourist and visitors this year. Yummy! A good treat and snack for the locals (bears that is). Polar Bears in the North, Brown Bears to the South and Grizzly's locally. Are people really that stupid? The tourist or a hiker who takes a casual walk and is never seen again. It happens very frequently.
This year it was a cyclist that was mauled
along a trail during a 24-hour race sponsored  by the Arctic Bicycle Club of Anchorage.

The today show coverage, July,1, 2008.

A look at the local weather. It is now that time of year when we wished it was a little cooler. For June 26th, the outside temperature is 70 while inside it is 72.

The Yukon Quest started from downtown Fairbanks this year. The temperatures were in the -40 range with very dense ice fog. This was too cold for us to stand out there and freeze. So we did the civilized thing and watched it on TV, Channel 11. It was broadcast live this year and everything worked. Here is a short video of the start from KTVF, Fairbanks.

The new temperature record for this winter and for February 2008, has been -45. Click HERE for the photo.

A photo of the final breakup taken of the Chena River near Fairbanks.

The Today Show featured Neil Sedaka singing some of his oldies.

Our Daughter and Grandkids made the non-stop trip  from Atlanta to Fairbanks during the first week in October and were able to enjoy the cold weather and snow with us. A trip like that for us is  too far, and we definitely would not enjoy being all cramped up with our knees in our face. The solution is to go first class. Here is a SlideShow using a few of their photos.
